GIMP

Image processing for everyone!

GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a high-quality image progessing software which can be downloaded from the web for free. GIMP is one of the most exciting open source programs available at the moment. Open source means the source code is open to everyone for advancement and co-development.

I am so thrilled about GIMP that I have written several books on it :): The first one was published in the dpi series (in German); the second by Markt+Technik (also in German). Both are available for the GIMP 2.4 and 2.6 versions.

The training video (Video2brain) - concepted and recorded by me - is the perfect addition to the books for those who prefer video training.

Visit my website www.gimp-buecher.at and you will find all my GIMP publications.

  1. File formats

GIMP knows all common file formats (jpg, gif, png, tiff, eps, psd, etc.) and even opens and saves more formats than Photoshop - e.g. ico important for favicons!

  2. Extraction and paint tools

With SIOX objects are quickly extracted from the background requiring very little user interaction!

  3. High-quality colour correction

With tonal values, gradation curve, hue, saturation, etc.
